The Thurso Cross is found on the Skinnet cross slab in far northeast of Scotland, at the Thurso Museum. A variation of an ancient Pictish symbol, the rams-horn design, a variation of the spiral, is in the middle of the cross. The spiral represents God, with everything revolving around Him. The knot work covering the rest of the cross is unending and thus cannot be untied, symbolizing the knots, which bind the soul to the earth. These knots must be cut and broken for the soul to become free to begin the spiritual journey to heaven. The knot work is also said to represent everlasting life. This cross measures 6.5" high x 5.75" wide.
