Our sparkling Irish Shamrock studs make this timeless symbol of Ireland even MORE eye-catching with brilliant Swarovski® crystals. These charming little good luck charms look great any time of day or evening and pair wonderfully with our Shamrock pendant!
The shamrock is in fact a species of the clover plant. The name means “young clover” and comes from the Irish shamróg (which in turn comes from seamair óg).
Most famously, St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is said to have used the humble shamrock while trying to convert the Irish to Christianity. He used the three leaves to symbolize the interconnection of the holy trinity -- the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Of course the number three held magical and spiritual significance for the Celts long before Patrick. It appears again and again in Celtic folklore (na seanchaí). Thus, the three petals of the shamrock are considered to be imbued with good luck. The three leaves also stand for faith, hope and love. The shamrock has been used as a national symbol since the 18th century.
So this one simple herb has many layers of meaning. But above all, it shows the world your pride in being Irish!
