The Pacific Northwest is teeming with life; from the cold tumbling waves of the Pacific Ocean, to roaring rivers filled with salmon, to dense moss-covered nooks and crannies of the forest. Rugged individuals have inhabited this land for millennia. Each generation has acknowledged that this place holds great power and each honors it by treading lightly with humility and respect. This tartan is for anyone who seeks the primal both within themselves and their environment. For anyone who knows deep down that life is an adventure.

For our Pacific Northwest Tartan, we’ve balanced the life giving elements of this region - the forests and the waterways - using dusky greens and blues.

The navy blue symbolizes the water of the Pacific Ocean, the Salish Sea, and the rivers that carve their way through the land.

Dark green represents the evergreen trees of the rainforest – Douglas fir, western redcedar, hemlock, and Sitka spruce.

We included a stripe of light green for the ferns, moss, and other groundcovers in the forest.

The color brown is a nod to the native wildlife of the earth and the air… like bald eagles, bears, deer, mountain lions, and beavers.

A delicate line of rusty red symbolizes marine life, like salmon and trout, that thrives in the Pacific Northwest.

And finally, a soft gray represents both the shrouding forest mist and the rocky terrain and mountains that reign over this realm.

Waist (A or B)

First, determine where you would like the top of the kilted skirt to sit. It can be worn either at the "high waist" (around your naval... "A" in the diagram above) or "low waist" (where you wear your jeans... "B" in the diagram above). If you want to wear it at the "high waist", measure around your belly button. If you want to wear it at your "low waist" (at the height you wear your jeans), measure at that level. Please pick one or the other. That will be where the top of your kilted skirt will sit.

Hips

This measurement is taken around the very widest part of your rear end. This measurement should be taken a bit loosely.

Thighs

Standing with feet about 8" to 10" apart, measure around the widest area of your thighs. Measure around both thighs, not individually.

Length

This is measured down the side of your body from the top of where the kilt will sit (i.e. at the height where you measured your waist) straight down to about mid calf. The preferred length is VERY subjective and can be anywhere from 2 or 3 inches below the knee to almost ankle length.
