E Pluribus Unum - Out of Many one. This concept cemented our path as a nation and brought 13 separate colonies into one union. Through the blood sweat and tears of the early Americans, ideas like individualism, religious tolerance, and liberty were forged into action. And when revolution came, “Join or Die” became a rallying cry.
The founders knew that only by working together would there be a chance for the great American Experiment to succeed. And so we begin our America 250 collection by honoring this idea of unity.
The E Pluribus Unum tartan begins with a single white stripe - the noble ideals upon which this country was founded.
The white stripe is surrounded by 56 Navy threads, for the 56 signatures on the Declaration of Independence
There are 13 stripes in the transition to symbolize the original 13 colonies forming ONE nation.
A single red line represents the blood shed in the fight for American independence.
Navy blue and tan incorporate the colors of the uniform worn by the Continental army.
And lastly, the light blue and dark blue sections are balanced to represent the equality of all Americans.
E Pluribus Unum. We choose to embrace this principle. The concept of Unity has inspired generations of Americans with pride and purpose. We may disagree with our neighbor, but in the end we are ALL Americans. The beating heart of our republic is found in that place where regular people find a middle path forward. It’s the mechanism that still drives this great experiment of ours.
We’re very proud of this design and hope you find it’s meaning inspiring. Join us, as we begin our journey celebrating the rich tapestry of America, by uniting as one
