A county as well as a city, Dublin is --in land-mass-- small. But, since the 18th century Dublin has been one of Ireland’s largest cities. Human habitation of the county stretches back well over six thousand years. The city of Dublin was founded over two thousand years ago and it has been an important city for over a thousand years. An important center of learning Dublin was --in the 9th and 10th centuries-- burned, re-built and settled by the Vikings. Every succeeding generation has changed Dublin in some way --yet it remains a center of culture and a vibrant modern city. - notes by Sarah Nagle
One of a series of Irish District tartans designed (and copyrighted) by Polly Wittering of the House of Edgar in 1995. This is not an 'officially sanctioned' District tartan but has proven popular.
